Baltasar Kormákur directing new American film

A new survival film is to be directed by Icelandic director/actor, Baltasar Kormákur, the Hollywood Reporter writes.

The US film production company STXfilms is currently negotiating to produce and distribute Adrift, which will be based on the true story of a woman who embarks on a sailing trip from Tahiti to San Diego with her fiance. A hurricane leaves her alone at sea, fighting to survive.

The script was written by Aaron and Jordan Kandell, who have previously worked on Disney’s Moana.

The film’s plan will be introduced to distributors at the European Film Market in Berlin, and no release date has been announced.
