Antboy to commence production in July

Antboy 3 is set to commence shooting over Copenhagen, Funen & Hamburg mid-July. Directed by Ask Hasselbach, Antboy, the story about a 12-year-old boy who gets super powers after being bitten by an ant, has seen great success over the trilogy – being selected for Toronto and Berlin. Both the first two films have received the Danish Film Academy’s Robert Award for Best Film for Children and Youth, and have been sold to 25 territories worldwide.

For the third instalment of the series, Paprike Steen is joining the cast as the new villain, alongside Oscar Dietz as the superhero, Samuel Ting Graf,Amalie Kruse Jensen, Nicolas Bro, and new additions Cecilie Alstrup Tarp, Astrid Juncher-Benzon, Lærke Winther and Frank Thiel.

The summer has come to Middellund, where Pelle/Antboy is enjoying life with his girlfriend, Ida. His former enemy, Albert, has been released from prison and is now employed by Exofarm’s new CEO (Steen), but everything is not as it should be, and soon the superhero will head for the ultimate showdown.

Antboy 3 will combine the charm and humour of the first film with the suspense and the effects of the second, providing a worthy ending to the trilogy. It is a reunion of many well-known characters, and some of them will reveal surprising new sides of themselves,” Hasselbalch explains to Cineuropa.
