Anna Odell’s ‘X&Y’ to open the Stockholm International Film Festival

The Stockholm International Film Festival has announced its 2018 programme, with Swedish artist and filmmaker Anna Odell’s film X&Y opening the festival.

X&Y stars Odell alongside Swedish celebrated actor Mikael Persbrandt, and the film is about them deconstructing themselves. The cast also includes Trine Dyrholm, Sofie Gråbøl, Thure Lindhardt and Jens Albinus.

Odell is known for her 2013 film The Reunion.

X&Y is the only Scandinavian film in the official competition.

Actress/director Gunnel Lindblom will be receiving the Stockholm Achievement Award. Lindblom had her breakthrough performance in Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal and she will be present for a screening of Margarethe von Trotta’s

The Stockholm Rising Star award, presented for the 10th time to a rising actor, has nominated:

  • Zahraa Aldoujaili (Amateurs)
  • Yara Aliadotter (Amateurs)
  • Christoffer Nordenrot (The Unthinkable)
  • Fanni Metelius (The Heart)
  • Alba August (Becoming Astrid)
  • Agnes Lindström Bolmgren (The Cake General)
