André Øvredal returns to Norway to shoot new film

Norwegian director André Øvredal is preparing his new film in Norway, Cineuropa reports.

Øvredal has been working in Hollywood on the English-language mystery-horror The Autopsy of Jane Doe and has been connected to numerous other projects. Now, he will shoot Mortal in the Hardanger region of Western Norway.

The film will be about Norwegian-American Eric, who has been hiding in the mountains for three years after surviving and repressing a traumatic event. Realising he possesses powers he can neither control nor understand, he seeks help from a young female psychologist. They realise his story is closely linked to Norwegian mythology.

US actor Nat Wolff and Indian actress Priyanka Bose will lead the film. Øvredal has previously directed the cult hit Troll Hunter.

Øvredal described Mortal as ‘a road movie in the fantasy genre’, with Norwegian mythology blended in. We are excited for this one!

The film is due to be released on the 18th of November 2018. It will be produced by Nordisk Film Production.
