The Icelandic film And Breathe Normally has won the Brizzolara Family Foundation Award at this year’s Hamptons International Film Festival in the United States.
The award is handed to a film in the ‘Films of Conflict and Resolution’ section of the festival, and is accompanied with a $5000 USD cash prize.
Directed by Ísold Uggadóttir, And Breathe Normally is about two women whose lives intersect. One is a struggling Icelandic mother who has recently been evicted from her apartment and now has to find somewhere to live for her and her young son, and the other is an asylum seeker from Guinea-Bissau. This is now the ninth international award the film has picked up since it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival at the beginning of the year. It has won four awards in the U.S. plus awards in Portugal, Greece, Australia, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands.
