Alicia Vikander to star in Freakshift

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander has been cast as the lead in Ben Wheatley’s Freakshift.

The film is described as ‘a cops versus monsters type of thing” and is written by Wheatley and his collaborator, Amy Jump. Little is known of the film, but back in 2012 Wheatley stated that the story focuses on “a crew that’s built up this armoured vehicle and they go out and have to respond to 911 calls about these big monsters that have come out of the ground.” Freakshift has been in talks for years, but has been continuously pushed back for a number of reasons.

Vikander is currently shooting Tom Raider and she may go straight into Freakshift when it starts shooting in August.
