Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård [+] has been cast in The Little Drummer Girl.
Skarsgård will play Becker, an intriguing stranger who becomes an acquaintance of Charlie, played by Florence Pugh, while on holiday in Greece. However, it becomes apparent that Becker’s intentions are far from romantic. He’s an Israeli intelligence officer, who entangles her in a complex and high stakes plot which unfolds as she takes on the role of a lifetime in the ‘theater of the real.’ Set in the late 1970s, the series promises high-stakes international intrigue, love and betrayal. The book was published in 1983.
The Little Drummer Girl will be a TV series produced and financed by The Ink Factory. The six-part mini-series will go into production in 2018.
Skarsgård will next be seen in Duncan Jones’ Mute alongside Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux, and The Aftermath with Keira Knightly. Skarsgård is currently shooting Hummingbird from director Kim Nguyen.
