Aksel Hennie to star in new film about murders in the Congo

Norwegian actor-turned-international Hollywood star Aksel Hennie (NobelThe Martian) will star in a new film titled Murders in the Congo.

The film is about Joshua French, who was charged with killing Tjostolv Moland in a Congolese prison, where they were both on death row for espionage and the murder of their hired driver.

Joshua French is a soldier who worked with Moland as a private security contractor. In 2009 they were convicted of murdering their driver in Congo. They said he was killed when they were ambushed by gunmen in the jungle.

Hennie plays the role of French and Tobias Santelmann (Kon-Tiki) will play Tjostolv Moland.

Marius Holst (King of Devil’s Island) will direct.

The film had to keep quiet to protect the security of French, who was released from prison on Tuesday night and returned home to Norway on Wednesday after eight years in prison.
Filming is said to be almost complete and will premiere in autumn 2018 in Norway.
