Aki Kaurismäki’s ‘The Other Side of Hope’ heading to the US

Aki Kaurismäki‘s latest film, The Other Side of Hope, has been picked up for distribution in the US.

The Other Side of Hope follows a Syrian refugee and a Helsinki restaurant owner. Following Kaurismäki’s harbour trilogy, the film is about this unlikely friendship between the two strangers.

The Other Side of Hope has been picked up by US distributor, who also was the distributor for Le Havre, the first in the trilogy.

A total of 81 territories has picked up the film from The Match Factory since its premiere at Berlinale.

The next territories to open include Belgium (22.03), Germany/Switzerland (30.03), the Netherlands and Spain in April and the UK in May. Camera Film in Denmark and Arthaus in Norway will release it in August.
