A new Swedish mini-series called TSUNAMI has been announced

The Swedish public broadcaster SVT has announced it is working on a new mini-series called Tsunami.

The tsunami disaster that will be depicted in the series is the one from 2004, with a mix of fact and fiction.Tsunami follows Tomas, who is the director of a relief organisation, and Ranya, who wants to leave her dying husband for Tomas instead. Meanwhile, Tomas’ friend Abbe has donated money to the organisation, but the journalist Elina believes things are not all that they seem. When Tomas disappears in the tsunami, everything comes out in the open.

The idea comes from author Sara Kadefors, who has previously written the script for the television series Orka! Orka!

Tsunami will be directed by Henrik Georgsson, who has directed episodes of The Bridge.

Casting is currently underway with the filming to begin in Malmö in October. The Swedish release date has been set for 2019.
