A new hotel-based crime series is in production in Finland

Scandinavian crime isn’t going away anytime soon, but producers are certainly looking for ways to create unique content. After the success of Deadwind on Netflix, we are definitely excited for some more Finnish Noir – and what could be better than Finnish Noir set in a hotel?

The Nordisk Film og TV Fond has announced that a new Finnish crime series called Hotel Swan is currently in production. The series will follow Ella Linden, who has landed her dream job as director of the Hotel Swan Helsinki, a popular luxury hotel in the centre of the city. Ella has a pretty bad start to her new job – on her first day her predecessor is found dead in one of the hotel rooms, kicking off what becomes a rollercoaster of events, driven by Ella’s inexperience and the hotel staff’s doubt in her abilities.

Hotel Swan is created by Olli Tola and Outi Keskevaari and will be directed by JP Siili (pictured). Yellow Film and TV will be looking for co-financiers at the upcoming MIPCOM.

What do you think about the concept for the series?
