Icelandic production TrueNorth is continue to grow with two new English-language projects in the works.
First up is The Malaga Prisoner, a comedy thriller about two Icelandic police officers who go to Malaga in Spain to pick up a petty thief. The film is to be directed by Oskar Jonasson, who premiered In Front of Others at the Goteborg Film Festival 2016. The film will be shot on location next year in August, and while it is mostly an English-language film, there will be some dialogue in Icelandic and Spanish. TrueNorth is working on finding Spanish co-producers for what is believed to be the first Iceland-Spain film collaboration.
Keflavik is a film directed by Michael G Kehoe and tells the story of an alien force discovered in an abandoned NATO base in Iceland, which an international research crew comes to investigate. It will also be shot next year.
The next project in the works is a thriller titled Mihkel, directed by Ari Alexander and a co-production between Estonia, Norway and Iceland. The film tells the story of two immigrants in Iceland, and will shoot this October/November.
Truenorth, which is a major production services company that has worked on films including Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has already released its first in-house production, In Front Of Others.
