Danish talents have picked up three awards at the Beijing International Festival over the weekend.

Director Christina Rosendahl won Best Director for her political thriller The Idealist. Martin Zandvliet’s historical drama Land of Mine also won, with the young German actor Louis Hofmann winning Best Actor, and composer Sune Martin winning Best Music.

These two films were not only selected for the competition, but they were also the first Danish films to appear in the festival’s six-year history. In total seven Danish films screened at the festival, which for a a second year had invited a large group of Danish filmmakers for a Danish film focus.
