Icelandic-Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason has won the IMDb Breakout Star Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gudnason is attending the festival to promote the film Borg/McEnroe, which has opened the festival.

Sverrir Gudnason has been in the spotlight in the Swedish film industry for some time now. He has played in the Swedish TV series Wallander, and in the film Monica Z that tells the story of the famous Swedish jazz singer Monica Zetterlund. For his role he won a Guldbagge Award (the Swedish Oscar) for Best Supporting Actor in 2014. A year later he was awarded once again for his leading role in Jens Önstberg’s Blowfly Park. Last year he starred in Pernilla August’s film entitled The Serious Game, and appeared in the TV series Gentlemen & Gangsters.
