Danish actor Søren Malling will star in a new historical epic titled 754 A.D. Redbad, Screen reports.
Malling is perhaps one of the most popular directors in Denmark, having starred in Borgen, The Killing, 1864, The Man, and so many others.
The film will tell the story of the rise of the Frankish empire in the 700s, which spread Christianity across Europe. Shooting locations include Denmark, northern Germany, Belgium, the North-Sea islands and the Netherlands, and the film will commence shooting on the 12th of September. The production is set to cost $8m and received the largest single amount of €900,000 from the Netherlands Film Fund earlier this year.
754 A.D. Redbad is directed by Roel Reiné, who will also serve as the DoP, and also stars Gijs Naber.
