The first images for the last season of The Bridge have been released on the Swedish newspaper Expressen’s blog titled ‘Spoiler Alert’.

The images depict Sofie Helin and Thurlindhardt who are reprising their roles as Saga Noren and Henrik Saboe.

Little is known about the fourth season, but all the events of season three are said to heavily affect the characters. Hans Rosenfeldt, the series creator, said in Spoiler Alert that “the opening is memorable and I do not think I’ve seen anything else like it.”

The theme for the eight new episodes will cover issues of identity, both in a concrete and existential level. Season four also takes place two years after season three. Season four will also be less complex and more emotional than the other seasons. Kim Bodnia has also been confirmed as not returning for season four.

The Bridge will premiere on the 1st of January 2018 on SVT.
