Nordisk Film takes over the Department Q films

Nordisk Film has acquired the rights to the remaining novels from crime author Jussi Alder-Olsen’s best-selling series titled Department Q.

Nordisk’s associated company Zentropa has the rights to the first four Department Q books, with the first three films (The Keeper of Lost Causes, The Absent One, A Conspiracy of Faith) being significant box-office hits in Denmark.

Zentropa are currently working on the fourth film/book, titled The Purity of Vengeance, which will be released by 2018.

Nordisk Film will produce and own the series from the fifth book onwards, and with ten books in the series they plan to turn each one into a film. It is currently unknown whether or not Danish stars Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares will return for the remaining series, though in our interview with Fares Fares he said he was attached to the first four films only.
