The new collaborative venture of the two companies means that, going forward, Nordisk Film will distribute the entire range of Miso Film’s television series and feature films in Scandinavia, and Nordisk Film will also join the development and production of Miso Film’s projects. Initially, the agreement between the companies will run for three years.
Projects already covered by the collaboration include Miso Film Norway’s TV series FRIKJENT (Acquitted) starring Nikolaj Cleve Broch and Lena Endre, and directed by Geir Henning Hopland (LILLYHAMMER), as well as Miso Film Sweden’s new TV series VIK/STUBØ based on Anne Holt’s novels, with screenplay by the Emmy-winning screenwriter duo Peter Thorsboe and Mai Brostrøm.
In addition, Nordisk Film will also distribute the Swedish feature film 438 DAGAR (438 Days), the screenplay for which was written by Peter Birro based on Johan Persson’s and Martin Schibbye’s bestseller about their incarceration in an Ethiopian prison, and the Danish children’s film IQBAL FAROOQ based on Manu Sareen’s popular series of children’s books. TrustNordisk will manage the above titles and international sales of Miso Film’s upcoming feature films DANNYS DOMMEDAG (Danny’s Doomsday) and LANG HISTORIE KORT (Long Story Short).
“The agreement gives Nordisk Film access to a number of Nordic film and television projects with some of the best creative talents in Scandinavia in the production of television series and feature films. Miso Film’s Nordic production activities complement our Nordic line-up, so this collaboration will consolidate our position throughout Scandinavia – particularly concerning our intensified focus on Sweden,” says Lone Korslund, Nordisk Film’s Manager for Purchasing and Nordic Co-productions.
Miso Film was established by the producer duo Jonas Allen and Peter Bose in 2004, and has been distinguishing itself as one of the most successful Nordic companies in Denmark, Norway and Sweden for almost a decade. Miso Film has produced television series such as VARG VEUM, THOSE WHO KILL, DICTE and 1864.
“Nordisk Film is the biggest distributor of entertainment in Scandinavia, and its unwavering focus on developing and adapting its distribution business has secured a solid position for Nordisk Film in a continuously changing market. We look forward to entering into a collaborative effort where everyone involved will profit from the mutual expertise of our companies,” says Peter Bose, producer and partner in Miso Film.
Through the agreement with Miso Film, Nordisk Film continues its successful strategy of finding the best Nordic talents and affiliating them with the company by collaborating closely with independent Nordic film companies.
Nordisk Film is a Nordic entertainment company and part of Egmont. Nordisk Film develops, produces and markets films and TV series in Scandinavia and operates cinemas in Denmark and Norway. In addition, Nordisk Film markets and sells PlayStation products across Scandinavia.
