Moa Gammel to star in new survival drama

The Swedish actress Moa Gammel, who we know from the hit supernatural series Jordskott, will star in a new survival drama called Breaking Surface.

Described as an ‘underwater suspense thriller’, Breaking Surface follows Ida (Gammel), a young woman trying to rescue her sister Tuva, who is trapped underwater after a rockslide in a remote part of Norway. When Ida surfaces for help, she realises that her and her sister are completely cut off – their phones and keys have been buried by the rockslide. Oh, and it’s a cold Christmas day – so the clock is ticking!

According to the Nordisk Film og TV Fond, the underwater scenes will be filmed in one of the largest water tank stages in Europe – the AED Studios in Antwerp, Belgium. External scenes will be shot in Norway.

Breaking Surface is directed by Joachim Hedén. Shooting will start in January 2019, with no official release date announced so far.
