Lisa Loven Kongsli, who we know from Force Majeure, has signed up to star in the World War II drama Ashes in the Snow, alongside Sophie Cookson, Peter Franzen and Bel Powley.
Powley portrays a sixteen year old aspiring artist who is separated from her family amidst Stalin’s reign of terror in the Baltic region during World War II. She risks her life and uses her art to secretly send messages to her imprisoned father to let him know she is still alive.
The winter scenes were shot earlier this year in Lithuania, and the final scenes are being shot over May and June.
The film is based on a novel called Between Shades of Gray, which is based on a true story of Irena Spakauskiene. The film will be directed by Marius Markevicius and sales were launched at the Cannes Film Festival.
Lisa Loven Kongsli has already been working in the US production of Wonder Woman, where she plays Melanippe. The film is due for release in 2017.
