Life in a Fishbowl occurs shortly before one of the major events in recent Icelandic history. The Icelandic financial crisis of 2008-2011 involved the default of all three of the country’s major banks, and causes a depression that affected many Icelandic businesses and citizens. “It is a very interesting time in Iceland. The funny thing is though that I did not live in Iceland at the time, I watched it from a distance and it was crazy” says the films director Baldvin Z.
